Vietnam has seen a steady increase in its trade surplus with Cambodia over recent years, according to the Vietnam General Department of Customs.

Trade surplus rose from 595 million USD in 2006 to 1.25 billion USD in 2010 and is expected to reach a record high this year after it hit 780 million USD in the first five months.

Vietnam ’s market share of exports in Cambodia ranks second after Thailand and is followed by China .

Last year, Cambodia ranked 13 th in the list of 200 export markets of Vietnam in terms of export value.

Many made-in-Vietnam items won firm positions in the Cambodian market like Biti’s footwear, Vinamilk beverages and Vissan processed food.

According to enterprises, Cambodia is a promising market for small enterprises as the market has a huge demand for low-priced products.

Bilateral trade between the two countries is forecast to pass 2 billion USD in 2011 and hit 6.5 billion USD by 2015./.
