Vietnam enters finals of U21 int’l football tournament
Vietnam won over Australia 3-0 to move on to the finals of the Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper's U21 International Football Tournament in Gia Lai.
Vietnam won over Australia 3-0 to move on to the finals of the Thanh Nien (Young People) newspaper's U21 International Football Tournament at Pleiku Stadium in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on Oct. 19.
Taking advantage of playing on their home turf, Vietnamese footballers took the initiative to put pressure on the guest's goal. Nguyen Dinh Bao found the Australian net in the second minute but his goal was not recognised due to his offside position.
In the following minutes, with his teammates at a standstill trying to find a way to the Australian goal, Bao benefited from a mistake of the rival's defender to get the ball and score the first goal for Vietnam .
In their first attack in the second half, Vietnam doubled the score thanks to a shot by Ha Minh Tuan. Losing 2-0, Australian footballers felt lowered spirits and concentrated on defence. Constant attacks resulted in a third goal for Vietnam in the 75th minute thanks to a kick by Vu Minh Tuan.
After defeating Australia 3-0, Vietnam progressed to the finals to defend their title. On Oct. 21, they will confront Malaysia , who earlier beat Thailand 1-0.-VNA
