The figures, released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, combined a two-way trade value of nearly 20 billion USD during the period, up 12.8 percent.

Vietnam purchased 1.14 billion USD worth of computers, electronics and components from the US in the reviewed period. These products accounted for the largest proportion of the country’s imports.

It imported 92 million USD worth of iron and steel scraps from the US during the time, the ministry said.

The country also saw a jump of over 100 percent in imports of telephones and components, petroleum products, papers, and ores and minerals.-VNA
