Vietnamese shooting athletes failed to repeat their gold medal victory after the team finished the World Shooting Championship – ISSF World Cup 2015 with just one bronze medal.

The lone bronze medal was won by veteran marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh after he accumulated 171.8 points in the men’s 50 metre pistol event.

Zhang Bowen of China took home the gold with 192.4 points and Park Daehun of the Republic of Korea earned his silver with 191.1 points.

Vinh, who brought home a gold medal last year with a record of 202.8 points, was unable to defend his first place in the men’s 10 metre air pistol event, finishing fifth in the final with 138 points.

Vinh’s record was surpassed by Jin Jongoh of the Republic of Korea. Jin claimed the gold medal with 206 points.

Ha Minh Thanh, Tran Quoc Cuong, Nguyen Hoang Phuong and Pham Thi Ha, the other members of Vietnam’s shooting team, did not perform their best and left the event empty-handed.

The competition ended on April 16 in Changwon city, the Republic of Korea.-VNA
