Tokyo (VNA) - The Vietnam Festival 2016 will take place in Tokyo, Japan from June 11-12, as heard at a press briefing in the city on May 11.

Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Truong Son underscored the significance of the festival, saying that it helps enhance relations between the two nations and forge solidarity among overseas Vietnamese in the country.

The festival will also be held in various localities across Japan, besides big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, Son said.

Secretary General of the organisation board Yoichiro Aoyagi said that the festival will strengthen mutual understanding and ties between the two nations.

According to the event’s organising board, Vietnamese and Japanese culture will be introduced through 110 booths featuring cuisine and handicraft products.

The annual festival, the ninth of its kind, is expected to attract 180,000 visitors this year.-VNA
