HCM City (VNA) - The Vietnam International Retail and Franchise Exhibition (VIETRF) kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on November 5, attracting the participation of over 170 businesses from 12 nations and territories.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh highlighted the expansion of the exhibition year after year since 2009, affirming that the exhibition updates the latest trends on franchise in Vietnam, in the region and the world so that both domestic and international enterprises can seek investment and business cooperation opportunities.

It will also help companies expand business and develop market, while helping domestic firms boost international trade exchange and foreign ones find distribution agents in Vietnam.

According to Khanh, franchise has boomed in Vietnam in recent years. The country’s ministries and sectors are building and improving legal documents involved to facilitate franchise activities in its market.

During the three-day event, 250 booths are installed, including those of top brands like Jollibee, Ministop, Effoc Cafe, World Franchise Associates, Uncle Bill, Snowee and Tous Les Jours.

Seminars will also be held, providing visitors with updated information in the retail and franchise industry in Vietnam.

The exhibition is expected to attract 40,000 visitors, up from last year’s 35,600 visitors.

The same day, the Korea Sourcing Fair 2015 was organised concurrently with the VIETRF.
