The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Lao province of Bolikhamsay held a conference to promote the special ties between Vietnam and Laos on September 11 in Bolikhamsay.

Participants included Bolikhamsay Governor Pannoi Mani, Secretary of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Youth Union and Vice President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association Vilayvong Bouddakham, and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung, along with officials from other departments, the armed forces and provincial authorities.

Speaking at the meeting, Pannoi Mani said the conference aimed to celebrate Vietnam’s 69 th National Day and the 52 nd anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. He also expressed the Lao people’s gratitude for Vietnam's immense, efficient support for their revolution.

Ambassador Hung thanked Laos for organising this important event. He stressed that Vietnam and Laos have consistently enjoyed a special relationship, first established by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kaysone Phomvihane, and upheld by the leaders and people of the two nations.

Hung affirmed the Party and Government of Vietnam continuously followed Laos’s achievements in nation-building, adding that he hoped the two sides would promote their close cooperation and enhance their special ties.

Cooperation between the two countries has been deepened in a number of fields, including politics, national defence, security, and education. As part of the countries’ economic cooperation, Vietnam has invested in over 400 projects worth more than 5 billion USD.-VNA
