Vietnam and Laos should continue to strengthen experience sharing in ethnic affairs, especially the implementation of poverty reduction and resettlement programmes.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the suggestion at a reception for a delegation from the Lao National Assembly’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs led by its Head Duangdy Outthachak in Hanoi on May 13.

Hung said the visit will further intensify coordination between the two countries’ National Assemblies in line with their signed agreements.

Highlighting the special friendship and fraternity between the two Parties, National Assemblies and peoples, Hung highly valued the outcomes reached at a working session between the delegations of the Vietnam National Assembly’s Ethnic Council and the Lao National Assembly’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs, saying that they will help further deepen their bilateral cooperation.

For his part, Duangdy Outthachak informed the host of the outcomes of the talks between his delegation and relevant agencies of Vietnam.

The two sides agreed on policies and measures to renovate coordination in work relating to ethnic minority groups, helping them, especially those in remote and isolated areas, better understand the special relations between Vietnam and Laos, he said.-VNA
