The Vietnam State Records Management and Archives Department and the Lao National Archives Department signed a cooperation plan for 2012 in Hanoi on Nov. 21.

Under the document, Vietnam will help Laos in training one Master degree holder and five university graduates in the field of archiving and records and prepare for the building of an insurance centre for Lao national archives.

The two sides will cooperate in filing and exchanging lists of document related to Vietnam and Laos ’ history, continue to share professional experience and organise activities to mark the 50 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties and 35 th year of the singing of the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation agreement.

According to Head of the Vietnam State Records Management and Archives Department Vu Thi Minh Huong, the two archives departments have maintained efficient cooperation.

In the 2006-2011 period, the Vietnam State Records Management and Archives Department helped build the Lao National Archive Centre using the Vietnamese government’s non-refundable aid.

Head of the Lao National Archive Department Ounkham L. Southivong said he hopes that the two agencies will continue exchange professional knowledge and transfer technology to help Lao cadres improve their capacity./.
