The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) and the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association (LVFA) will jointly organise the third Vietnam-Laos People’s Festival in Vietnam next year.

This will be one of the activities to mark the 50 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962-2012) and 35 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977-2012) discussed during a working session between VLFA President Vu Trong Kim and visiting LVFA President Phankham Viphavanh in Hanoi on July 13.

The two sides will broaden education about the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos , and actively disseminate the book entitled, “Historical documents on Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam special relationship in the 1930-2007 period”.

They will continue organising visits to Vietnam by Lao people who had protected Vietnamese volunteers during the war, as well as visits by Vietnam ’s former advisors and voluntary soldiers to battlefield sites in Laos .

The two associations will study the organisation of a TV exchange programme highlighting the love between Vietnamese and Lao teachers and students.

On the same day, the Lao guests were received by President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong, who affirmed that VUFO is ready to cooperate and share experience with the two countries’ friendship associations to help further the friendship and close ties between Vietnam and Laos .

During their stay in Vietnam from July 12-17, the LVFA delegation will visit economic establishments owned by Vietnamese war veterans who fought in Laos, and meet with VLFA branches in selected Vietnamese localities, including Ho Chi Minh City./.
