A delegation of former Vietnamese military experts and volunteer soldiers has paid a friendly visit to Laos from Oct. 28 – Nov. 3 at the invitation of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association (LVFA) Central Committee.

At the reception to the delegation, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Douangchay Phichith thanked the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam ’s army and people for their support to the success of Laos ’ revolution.

He affirmed that the Lao Party, Government and people pledged to exert their utmost in order to maintain and further promote the longlasting solidarity and traditional relations between the two countries.

In the framework of the visit, the delegation met with Phankham Viphavan, Lao Minister of Education and Sports, who is also Chairman of LVFA.

The former Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers also visited and placed wreath in the Laos-Vietnam Martyrs’ Cemetery in Sepon district, Savanakhet province and joined in exchange activities with Division 4 of the Lao People’s Army.

At Savanakhet University , the Vietnamese delegation took part in an exchange with more than 1,000 Lao veterans and the university’s teachers and students. The two countries’ veterans recalled powerful memories of the arduous resistance time and fierce struggles against French colonialism and American Imperialism.

The exchange helped thousands of young Lao people gain a better understanding of Laos ’ revolutionary history and the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos. /.
