The Supreme People’s Courts of Vietnam and Laos will continue to strengthen their cooperation in order to contribute to deepening the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The commitment was made during a meeting between Chief Judge of Lao Supreme People’s Court Khamphan Sitthidampha and his Vietnamese Truong Hoa Binh who is on a visit to Laos from August 7-10.

The two sides spoke highly of their effective cooperation, especially in delegations exchange, court staff training, technology application in court activities, renovation of judicial administration procedures and court apparatus improvement.

They also informed to each other of their country’s socio-economic situation and recent activities of the court systems in both nations.

The sides worked closely to improve the capacity of the court system in Laos and successfully organised many important events in the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012.

In the coming time, the two supreme people’s courts are expected to continue exchanging delegations and work together in training human resources for the Lao court system, while sharing information and experience on judicial reform.

At the talks, the two chief judges also discussed a plan to hold the 3rd court meeting of border provinces of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in Laos in 2014.-VNA
