A delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Thu Hong on September 25 held talks with representatives of the Lao Trade Union Central Committee.

At the talks, which is part of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Laos from September 24-28, the two sides informed each other of the current situation of the two countries’ trade unions.

They also affirmed their determination to further promote cooperation between the two organisations, thus contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Laos special relations

During the talks, the two sides also reviewed the fine cooperation in bilateral ties, especially in the 2008-2013 period.

The two trade unions worked closely in providing technical assistance and training staffs as well as sharing experience and mutually supporting each other at international forums in the period under review.

On this occasion, they signed a cooperation agreement for the 2013-2018 period, which will focus on providing refresher courses for officials from the Lao side and enhancing information exchange between Lao dong (Labour) Newspaper of Vietnam and Hangngan Newspaper of Laos.

They also agreed to continue to carry out high-level meetings and the exchange of delegations, while strengthening cooperation between trade unions of the two countries’ localities.-VNA
