The Vietnam Olympic Committee’s (VOC) executive committee organised a conference in Hanoi on January 15, outlining key missions in 2015 and developing plans to compete at international events.

Over 50 participants attending the conference discussed preparations for the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Singapore next June and the ASEAN Para Games taking place later on.

The delegates also discussed plans for Vietnam, as the host nation, to successfully organise the fifth Asian Beach Games next year.

The selection and training of top athletes for success at the 31st Olympic Games and 15th Paralympic Games in Brazil was a central focus point.

Addressing the conference, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Hoang Anh Tuan said 2015 is an important year for Vietnam’s Olympic momentum.

He asked the VOC to speed up implementation of agreements on sports to strengthen sports cooperation with ASEAN countries and international sports organisations in the region and around the world.

The delegates also elected Le Hung Dung, who is president of the Vietnam Football Federation, as Vice Chairman of the VOC and Nguyen Van Tuan, who is Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Trousim, as a member of the VOC’s Executive Committee.-VNA
