Vietnam considers Poland as a traditional friend and a priority partner in the Central part of Eastern Europe in the country’s foreign policy.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the affirmation during talks with visiting Deputy Speaker of the Polish Parliament Jerzy Wenderlich in Hanoi on December 17.

The two sides reviewed the diplomatic ties between the two countries as well as relations between the two legislative bodies in recent years, saying that the increasingly developing relations between the two bodies contribute to further strengthening the traditional friendship and all-around ties between the two nations.

While exchanging views on the economic ties, both host and guest concurred that two-way trade saw positive results as it has regularly increased in recent years.

However, they also noted that the results do not match the existing potential and desire of the two sides.

Vice Chairwoman Ngan suggested the two sides work together to define strong cooperation fields, while taking specific measures to promote collaboration to reach one billion USD in two-way trade and further deepen the bilateral relations.

Both sides said that it is necessary to promote all-level exchanges between the two law-making bodies in the coming time, while enhancing experience sharing, increasing meetings on the sidelines of regional and international conferences and comparing notes on their common concerns.

They also agreed to work closely to manage and promote cooperation agreements signed by the two Governments, creating a favourable legal environment for both sides’ businesses to work together and promote trade and investment.-VNA
