The Steering and Organisation Boards of the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU – 132) convened their first session in Hanoi on November 22 to discuss preparations for the global-scale event slated for March 2015.

Addressing the event, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is head of the IPU-132 Steering Board, said Vietnam’s involvement in IPU operations is a duty of top importance among the NA’s multilateral parliamentary diplomatic activities in order to promote and defend national interests, consult foreign countries’ views on global issues while manifesting national viewpoints over common concerns across the globe.

The hosting of IPU – 132 is a crucial hallmark in the legislature’s external affairs during its 13 th tenure.

The IPU – 132 Organising Board groups officials of the NA, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Ministries of Public Security, National Defence, Finance, Culture-Sports-Tourism, Information and Communications, Health, Transport, People’s Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Television, Radio the Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency and the State Audit Office.-VNA
