The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labour (MOEL) held a seminar in Hanoi on September 9 to increase labour and employment cooperation between the two countries.

At the event, the two sides reviewed the results of cooperation over the past time and put forward future concrete activities. They agreed that experts from both ministries will negotiate for the early signing of a special Memorandum of Understanding between them.

The RoK side highly valued Vietnam’s efforts in reducing the number of illegal workers living in the country, affirming to work closely with Vietnam in speeding up the implementation of a cooperative programme on sending Vietnamese labourers to the country, said MOEL Minister Phang Ha-nam.

During the seminar, the two sides inked a cooperation agreement on labour and employment. In addition to existing cooperative realms including labour hygiene and safety, vocational training and social insurance, the agreement focuses on expanding bilateral cooperation to several new ones such as labour management and improving sustainable employment.-VNA
