Vietnam and Russia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on manpower training in the nuclear industry, according to the website of the Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

The MoU was inked in Moscow on June 2 by Deputy Director of Russia’s State Nuclear Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Vyacheslav Pershukov and General Director of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) Hoang Anh Tuan.

The MoU will replace the previous version signed in 2010 between ROSATOM and MoST, which is set to expire this year.

Accordingly, Russia will help train Vietnamese nuclear experts, develop legal foundations for nuclear energy and prepare capable personnel for implementing nuclear projects in Vietnam in terms of infrastructure, technical management, technology and communications from now to 2020.

Russia’s ROSATOM Group has provided training for 350 Vietnamese students at nuclear technical universities in the country.

The signing of the MoU took place in the framework of the 7th ATOMEXPO International Forum in Moscow from June 1-3.-VNA
