Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration situations were introduced to Algerian trade businesses at a recent workshop in Annaba province, which was co-organised by the Vietnamese Embassy and the province’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Vietnamese Ambassador Vu The Hiep recalled the time-honoured relations between the two countries and expressed hope that bilateral trade and investment ties will grow further. He noted that the two sides have set the goal to raise two-way trade to 1 billion USD and expand the operation of the Bir-Seba joint venture to which the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) is a partner.

The two sides discussed measures to enhance the economic ties in the time to come. The businesses suggested that the two Governments sign agreements on trade exchange and investment and labour cooperation, facilitate the exchange of business delegations and increase investment promotion activities.

Representatives from the Annaba Chamber of Commerce and Industry said they hope Vietnamese businesses will invest in the province, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, housing, garment and footwear making, fisheries, irrigation and forestry.-VNA
