Vietnamese spine surgeons have caught up with their colleagues in the world in endoscopic spine surgery, but at the cheapest cost.

The assessment was made by German and Netherland experts at a workshop discussing spine surgery organised by the Vietnam-Germany Hospital in Hanoi on June 6.

Nguyen Van Thach, Deputy Director of the Vietnam-Germany Hospital , said the minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery technique requires a very small incision, post-surgery complications are minimised and back surgery recovery time is short.

The hospital’s surgeons have so far successfully conducted almost 300 cases of spine surgery with each costing around 40 million VND (roughly 1,920 USD) compared with 300 million VND (14,400 USD) a case done abroad.-VNA
