Vietnam supports the National Transitional Council (NTC) to take over Libya ’s seat in the UN General Assembly and respects all decisions of the Libyan people, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said on Sept. 14.

“The Vietnamese mission to the United Nations on Sept. 14 handed over a diplomatic note supporting the National Transitional Council to take over Libya ’s seat in the UN General Assembly,” Luong Thanh Nghi, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry said.

“ Vietnam respects all decisions of the Libyan people and hopes the power handover in Libya will take place smoothly; Libya ’s sovereignty independence and territorial integrity will be ensured.

“We hope that the NTC and political forces in Libya will take effective measures to restore peace and stability soon and promptly conduct general elections to elect an administration of national concord and reconciliation, representing the will and interest of the entire Libyan people.

“ Vietnam wishes to cooperate with the new administration to promote the friendship between the two countries and is willing to participate in the reconstruction process in Libya within its capacity,” he said./.
