The National Assembly of Vietnam will do its best to foster bilateral ties with Thailand, Deputy NA Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son has said.

Receiving Adisakdi Tanyakul of Deputy Secretery General of Thailand’s Office of National Security Council in Hanoi on August 23, Deputy Chairman Son expressed his pleasure at the development of Vietnam-Thailand relations, including specific cooperation in national security and defence.

He said he hoped that the two legislative bodies would facilitate bilateral ties in the future.

The Deputy Chairman also reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of attaching importance to multifaceted cooperation with Thailand .

He said he hoped that Thailand would soon stabilise the country, based on its national reconciliation policy, in order to contribute to regional stability and development.

Adisakdi Tanyakul said Vietnam, as ASEAN 2010 Chair, has made a positive contribution to the ASEAN bloc.

He said Vietnam and Thailand have long-lasting traditional relations and he hoped that the two countries would continue to work closely to ensure national security and defence for the stability and development of each country as well as the whole region./.
