Vietnam will encourage its businesses to invest in Laos’ northern provinces, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told officials of the Lao province of Luong Nam Tha during a working session on August 12.

Phuc and his Lao counterpart Somsavad Lengsavath were briefed on the socio-economic situation in Luong Nam Tha, which has rich natural resources and favourable weather and land conditions for farming and husbandry.

Luong Nam Tha has close cooperative ties with several Vietnamese localities, especially the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho. The two sides have reaped practical outcomes in cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure and human resource development.

On the occasion of their visit, the two Deputy PMs attended a ceremony to hand over a high-school built with non-refundable aid of Vietnam’s Vinh Phuc province, to Luong Nam Tha.
