Vietnam will host the fifth Asia- Pacific bonsai festival in 2015, marking its first ever organisation of the event, heard a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on November 4.

The festival is scheduled for June 5-8, 2015 at the RinRin Park in Xuan Thoi Dong commune, Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City.

It is expected to welcome craftsmen from 12 countries and territories, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam, which are members of the Asia- Pacific Bonsai Friendship Federation (ABFF).

Vietnamese craftsmen from 24 provinces and cities will introduce their masterpieces to the festival, said Head of the Organising Board Tran Viet My, who is also Vice Chairman of the HCM City Ornamental Plants and Creatures Association.

Craftsmen’s skill performance will be the highlight of the festival, which is to see 400-500 bonsai trees participating in a competition and 300-400 work arts made from stone, wood and other materials on display.

Visits to bonsai gardens and source material producing areas in Ho Chi Minh City and southwestern provinces will be organised for foreign delegates.

The biennial Asia-Pacific bonsai festival is held rotationally among the ABFF’s member countries to promote and popularise the bonsai art in the region.-VNA
