Ten Vietnamese contestants will participate in the 40 th Worldskills International Competition in Canada from August 26 to September 8 this year.

Deputy Head of the General Department for Vocational Training Duong Duc Lan said the contestants will compete in nine categories including information technology, web design, restaurant services, cooking, mechanical electronics, civil woodwork, industrial electronics, civil electricity and refrigeration.

According to him, Vietnam has got high achievements in the seventh ASEAN Vocational Skills Competition in Malaysia in November last year.

This is the second time Vietnam has participated in a worldskills competition. It won only one certificate for excellence at the previous contest in Japan in 2007.

This year’s event draws the participation of 900 contestants from 51 countries and territories, to compete in 45 different skills./.
