Ninety Vietnamese delegates will take part in the 21 st Japan – East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths Programme (JENESYS) to be held in Japan from June 30 to July 10.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee, this is the third time Vietnam has participated in the programme during the 2008 – 2009 school year.

Under the programme, the delegation will visit some Japanese provinces and cities including Tokyo , Aomori , Gifu , Nara and Hyogo to strengthen mutual understanding with Japanese students and people.

The JENESYS programme was initiated by Japanese President Shinzo Abe the second East Asia Summit in the Philippines in January 2007.

Under the programme, 6,000 young Southeast Asian people are invited to Japan each year for exchange activities and the t otal expense for the five-year programme is estimated to cost 35 billion Yen (315 million USD).


In the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years, more than 700 Vietnamese students joined the programme.
