Vietnam will do its utmost, together with Laos , to bring the special relationship between the two nations to a new level of development.

Party General Secretary and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong made this statement while receiving Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thoonglun Sisulit, Special Envoy of Lao Party General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, who came to convey the results of the 9 th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), in Hanoi on March 28.

Party leader Trong congratulated Laos on the successful 9 th LPRP National Congress, saying that the success is not only significant for the revolutionary cause of Laos but also a great encouragement for Vietnam in its renewal and national construction and defence.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the LPRP headed by General Secretary and State President Chummaly Sayasone, the Lao people will harvest greater achievements in their renewal cause, to successfully build a peaceful, independent, democratic, united and prosperous Lao country.

Deputy PM Thoonglun Sisulit, who is also Head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and Foreign Minister, stressed that the LPRP will consistently pursue its renewal policy with national construction and defence being two strategic tasks, striving to bring Laos out of underdevelopment status by 2020.

He affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will continue to attach importance to maintaining and promoting the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries./.
