Vietnam vows to use ADB loans efficiently
The Vietnamese
government pledges to effectively use the source of assistance from the
Asia Development Bank (ADB), Minister of Planning and Investment Bui
Quang Vinh said at his recent meeting with ADB Vice President Bruce
Davis in Hanoi.
Vietnam appreciates ADB’s
role, Minister Vinh said, adding that the bank has made important
contributions to the country’s achievements.
He
noted that ADB is among the three largest donors to Vietnam ,
providing major assistance to important infrastructure projects in the
country.
At the same time, the minister emphasised
difficulties facing Vietnam during the implementation of projects
funded by ADB and other donors, particularly issues related to Vietnam’s corresponding capital and capacity of project management units
(PMU).
The ADB official said his bank always creates
best conditions for Vietnam , its third biggest client, to access
its source of capital to speed up its development projects.
In the coming time, he said, the bank will help Vietnam enhance PMU capacity as well as address related problems. -VNA
