Vietnam continually welcomes foreign enterprises and investors to do business in the country, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

With a 90-million population and abundant human resources, Vietnam has become an attractive destination for investments, stated the PM when joining other leaders of Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) in a dialogue with the business community in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on June 23 as part of the sixth ACMECS Summit.

He continued by saying the Government is making every effort to speed up reforms, economic restructuring and all-round international integration while carrying out measures to create favourable conditions for foreign investors and businesses.

The Vietnamese Government leader also shared with participants that Vietnam is focusing on improving its business climate and increasing national competitiveness from 2015-2016.

With the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community at the end of this year and the completion of 14 free trade agreements from 2015-2020, the country will become an important link in the global economic connection chain with 55 partners, including the world’s leading economic centres like the US, the EU, Russia, Japan and China, he added.

At the dialogue, participating leaders appreciated helpful proposals made by the ACMECS Business Council as well as positive feedback from the business community on ACMECS cooperation, especially in infrastructure upgrades.

They hoped enterprises would participate more deeply and actively in the building and implementation of cooperation programmes and mobilise resources to serve programming.

Established in 2003, ACMECS, which groups Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, has helped boost economic-trade ties between member states.-VNA
