Vietnamese athletes have won two silver and six bronze medals in the ju-jitsu competition at the 2014 Asian Beach Games, which officially kicked off in Thailand on November 14.

In the women's 60kg category, Nguyen Thi Huong settled for a silver medal after losing to Mongolian rival Battsogt Buyandelger in the final.

To reach the final, Huong defeated Khan Beenish of Pakistan and Hassan Shafaa of the United Arab Emirates.

In the women's 50kg final, Dao Le Thu Trang lost to Masuda Maybelline of the Philippines.

Trang also claimed two bronze medals in the doubles and mixed events.

Vietnam, now at 10th in the medal table, has sent 138 athletes to the event which will run until November 23. They will compete in 18 disciplines.

At the previous event two years ago in China, Vietnam finished 12th with two silvers and one bronze.-VNA
