Vietnam attaches much importance to developing the friendship and all-round ties with the Netherlands – which can be considered a model of effective relations between the country and a European state, said National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu.

The NA leader made the remark on August 19 in Hanoi during a meeting with a delegation from the Dutch parliament’s Committee for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation led by Chairman Raymond de Roon.

He thanked the Netherlands for supporting Vietnam in developing ties with the European Union, as well as the Dutch Parliament’s approval of a framework agreement on the Vietnam-EU Partnership and Comprehensive Cooperation.

Luu suggested that the two sides maintain exchanges of delegations at all levels and strengthen mutual support at multilateral and international forums.

He added that both sides should also foster cooperation in the priority fields of climate change, water resource management, agriculture, and energy.

For his part, Raymond de Roon said the sound relationship between the two peoples of Vietnam and the Netherlands is an important foundation for beefing up cooperation in all fields.

He said he hopes the two countries will increase meetings for deeper mutual understanding and stronger economic partnership.

Earlier, the Dutch guests also had a working session with a delegation from the National Assembly’s Committee for Economics led by Chairman Nguyen Van Giau.

The two sides discussed issues related to administrative procedures and customs reform, as well as socio-economic matters of mutual concern.-VNA
