Vietnam-Chile trade up 38 percent in first half

Statistics released by the agency showed that in the first half of this year, Chile ’s exports to Vietnam climbed 41 percent year-on-year to 238.8 million USD.
Meanwhile, the South American country’s import value stood at 82.6 million USD, up 29 percent year-on-year. Its major imports are footware, cement, coffee, garments and tra fish.
Bilateral trade is expected to reach one billion USD in the next three years as the Vietnam-Chile Free Trade Agreement has come into effect, said the agency’s director Félix de Vincente.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Chile has witnessed a rapid growth in recent years. In 2011, it jumped more than 50 percent year-on-year to nearly 487 million USD, the highest ever figure.-VNA
