Vietnam will do its utmost with the Chinese side to boost their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a deeper, more practical and effective manner, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said.

PM Dung made the affirmation at a reception for visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Hanoi on August 5.

He spoke highly of the results of the talks between Wang and his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh, saying that Wang’s visit will contribute to promoting the two countries’ relations.

Pleased with the fine development of the two nations in all fields over the past time, the Vietnamese leader stressed that Vietnam and China are good neighbours with time-honoured friendship and common interests.

He suggested the two countries actively concretise agreements reached by their high-ranking leaders, boost friendship exchanges and comprehensive cooperation, and intensify cooperation in trade, economics and investment as well as in the fields that they hold much potential, including infrastructure and transport.

Regarding the East Sea issue, PM Dung asked the two countries to solve all differences by peaceful negotiations and settle arising problems satisfactorily in a constructive spirit, not letting them affect the two countries’ relations, as well as peace and stability in the East Sea.

He stressed the need for both sides to handle sea-related disputes on the basis of the Vietnam-China agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues and international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the spirit of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), towards the conclusion of a Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).

Host and guest also exchanged their deep views on the two countries’ relations, including measures to speed up the implementation of agreements reached in the past, particularly the action programme to realise the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The Chinese FM affirmed that he will make every effort to foster bilateral cooperation, especially in economics, trade and investment.

Wang conveyed Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s invitation to PM Dung to attend the 10 th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning this September.-VNA
