The General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos inaugurated its new headquarters in Vientiane on June 17, with senior officials from the two countries in attendance.

Lying on a site of over 1,100 sq.m, the structure is built using funding by authorities of Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An and Ha Tinh, and philanthropists in and outside Vietnam.

Established in 2009, the association is expected to be a common place for Vietnamese residents in Laos, linking them with their compatriots at home.

Speaking to attendants, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung said he hopes the association will help 11 of its chapters across Laos stay united, for the sake of the Vietnam – Laos special ties.-VNA
