A short video clip made by Muoi Nen, a farmer in the southern province of Long An, made the top 10 of YouFarm, an international video competition for farmers.

Entitled Cha Va Con (The Farmer and His Son), the video was ranked in seventh place. Earlier, it won the first-place prize of the filmmaking programme YouFarm – Canh Dong Que Toi (YouFarm – My Homeland's Field), co-organised by the Bayer Vietnam and May Cong May Communication Company.

Other Vietnamese productions, Tren Canh Dong Cha Ong (Develop Father's Rice and Homeland) by farmer Muoi Thanh ranked 12th, and Nha Nong Va Cong Nghe (Technology and Farming) by farmer Bay Uoc placed 20th.

In May, a group of four farmers from My An commune, Thu Thua district in the southern province of Long An joined the one-week filming project YouFarm programme to produce short video clips about their lives and daily work.

The project was conducted by representatives of Vietnam's short and independent movies, including Trinh Dinh Le Minh, Ta Nguyen Hiep, and Nguyen Huu Tuan.

Four films were produced from their efforts, including The Farmer and His Son, Develop Father's Rice and Homeland, Technology and Farming and My Farming, My Family.

Among those productions, two were chosen to be among 30 films in the global YouFarm competition, which aims to improve public understanding of farmers' roles in society, while increasing awareness of agricultural topics such as food safety and sustainable farming.

Organised by Bayer CropScience, the annual competition is for farmers worldwide or their families and friends.

Nearly 100 video clips were produced, of which 44 films from 20 countries were selected to compete in further rounds. The clip A Modern Family Farm, an entry from Italy, was awarded the first-place prize.-VNA
