Jakarta (VNA) – Fine Vietnamese dishes are being presented to international friends at the Vietnamese Food Week, which is underway in Semarang, capital of Central Java, Indonesia from May 16-28.

The event, jointly held by Indonesia’ Ciputra Semarang Hotel, the Vietnamese Embassy and the Swiss-Belresort Tuyen Lam Da Lat Hotel of Vietnam, is a part of a cuisine and tourism exchange programme between the two countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Hoang Anh Tuan lauded the initiative, saying its success would open up a string of events to disseminate Vietnam’s cuisine, culture and tourism in the “land of a thousand islands”.

The diplomat also hoped such activities would contribute to bolstering mutual understanding between the two countries’ people, creating a firm foundation for bilateral relations to thrive in the future.

After this event, Indonesian cuisine will be introduced in Vietnam for two weeks.-VNA
