National Secretary of the French Communist Party (FCP) Pierre Laurent on Sept. 14 held talks with a high-ranking delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Thuan Huu, Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan dan (People’s) daily, is visiting France to attend the FCP’s L’Humanite newspaper festival from Sept. 16-18.

During the meeting, Pierre Laurent, who is also Regional Counsellor of Ile-de-France , spoke highly of Vietnam ’s participation in the festival’s economic space, considering this an important and necessary contribution to boosting the cooperative ties between the two parties and nations in the coming time.

The invitation to Vietnam to attend the event is part of preparations for France-Vietnam cultural exchange in 2012, the year marking the 40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, he said.

For his part, Huu expressed his delight at recent outstanding progresses in the cooperation between the two Parties marked by the visit to Vietnam by Pierre Laurent in April this year.

He said he hopes the close and effective ties between the two Parties will be developed through regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations and the fine relations between the FCP’s L’Humanite newspaper and Nhan dan daily of the CPV, as well as the cooperation between the two communist youth unions, will be further strengthened.

He expressed his wish that the two Parties will share common voice at international and regional forums of communist parties and the FCP with its prestige and role will contribute to lifting the cooperative ties between the two countries to a new level and promoting French investment in Vietnam . /.
