The Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAGL), a Vietnamese enterprise running a number of projects in Laos , has conducted a wide range of activities to improve social welfare in the country.

Hoang Anh Attapeu, an affiliate of the group, has built several welfare facilities worth a combined 14.2 million USD in the Lao southern province of Attapeu such as resettlement houses, electricity transmission lines, a school, roads, bridges, and a 200-bed hospital.

The company twinned 11 of its farms with 23 villages in the province’s Xaysetha, Sanxay, Sanamxay, Samakhixay and Phu Vong districts.

It also presented charitable gifts worth more than 29,000 USD to local needy people and funded 100,000 USD to invite Vietnamese doctors and experts to give free medical check-ups and agricultural guidance to locals.

This year, the group has commenced construction of other similar projects in this province, for example an administrative centre in Phu Vong district, more schools, roads, clinics, lighting systems and resettlement houses, at an estimated cost of 15 million USD.

The work is in implementation of HAGL’s commitment of 30 million USD for welfare programmes in Attapeu, contributing to the two countries’ special friendship and comprehensive cooperation.-VNA
