Bui Quang Minh, an IT expert from the Internet security company Bkav Company has received an award of 1,000 USD from Google corporation for finding out a high security vulnerability in Google Chrome browser.

In October 2010, Minh found the fault in libxml2, an open source software library for parsing XML documents.

This library is used by many popular softwares, browsers and operating systems for example, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Linux OS, etc. Thus, these softwares, particularly browsers, are vulnerable to attacks. To exploit this vulnerability, hackers may send users a link containing malicious XPATH. When the user opens this link, the malicious code will be executed, attacking the user’s system.

Minh was among six experts worldwide to receive Google’s highest prize in November./.
