A collection of images taken by a Vietnamese photojournalist has won first prize in the fine arts category – professional selection – of the seventh Pollux Annual Award under the UK-based Worldwide Photography Gala Awards.

The winning collection, titled Tham San Si (Greed, Hatred and Delusion), was shot by Viet Van from the Lao Dong (Labour) newspaper.

The photos will be published in the competition’s annual photo book and go on display at a photography festival of art and journalism to be held in Berlin next year.

Previously, the collection ranked second in the journalism and documentary category at the Moscow International Foto Awards.

Viet Van is the only Vietnamese national who has been honoured at the British contest on four separate occasions, including two first prizes. In addition to these titles, he has won the "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" award in France for six consecutive years.-VNA
