The 12th Vietnamese Poetry Day is scheduled to take place at Van Mieu (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi on February 14 (the 15th day of the first lunar month), according to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) online newspaper.

The Vietnam Writers’ Association has announced the programme for this year’s poetry day under the theme “Nation’s Spring – From Dien Bien to Truong Sa”.

The event aims to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (1954-2014) and affirm national sovereignty.

It expects to gather poetry lovers, including more than 80 poets who are members of the Association from seven provinces and cities, and six universities across the country, as well as 28 poetry clubs from Hanoi.

The organising board sent documents to ask provinces and cities to continue organising Vietnamese poetry day in their localities.

After the day, a delegation of artists from the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Vietnam will pay a visit to Dien Bien and organise a poetry festival on March 13th to mark the 60th anniversary of the first gunshot starting the Dien Bien Phu campaign.-VNA
