The 10th annual Vietnamese Poetry Day took place at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on Feb. 5, drawing the participation of nearly 70 poets from 27 countries and territories.

Speaking at the event, Poet Huu Thinh, President of the Vietnam Writers’ Association, said that over the past 10 years, the Vietnamese Poetry Day has attracted a large number of participants with higher quality works.

The presence of foreign poets at this event shows that poetry links people, communities and countries throughout the world, he said.

The event opened with President Ho Chi Minh’s poem “Nguyen Tieu” (the fifth day of the first lunar month) recited by meritorious artist Ha Vi and accompanied by 16-chord zither artist Ho Thi Thanh Huong.

Vietnamese poetry lovers had a chance to enjoy interesting poems written by foreign poets.

In addition, troupes from the northern and central regions brought to the Poetry Day special items reflecting their cultural beauties and customs.

During the event, tens of poetry clubs in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces set up camps to introduce their poems and exchange with visitors./.
