Prof. Phan Huy Le, President of the Vietnam Association of Historical Science, has been elected as a foreign correspondent member of the Academie des Inscriptions et Belles-Letres (AIBL) (Academy of Inscriptions and Humanities).

According to the Hanoi National University on July 7, the Vietnamese professor was awarded the title at a session of the AIBL under the Institute of France on May 27.

Prof. Le was born in 1934 in Thach Chau commune, Thach Ha district, the central province of Ha Tinh.

The Academy of Inscriptions and Humanities is a French learned society devoted to the humanities, archeology, history and philology from the Ancient Times and Medieval to the Modern Times in a wide historical space stretching from Western Europe to the Far East.

Established in 1663, the AIBL is one of the five prestigious academies of the Institute of France./.
