Vietnamese students grabbed one gold and five silver medals at the 10th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in India from December 3-12.

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Le Manh Tuan, a student of chemistry at the Ha Noi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, won the gold medal.

Tuan’s school mates -- Dao Vu Quang, Tran Nhat Quang and Pham Quang Hieu took three silver medals.

The remaining two silvers went to Khuat Duy Hong from Son Tay gifted high school and Le Ba Truong Giang, Nguyen Hue gifted high school.

This is the highest record Vietnamese students have achieved in such competition. They won six bronze medals in 2011 and three silvers and three bronzes last year.

The annual competition in science for 15-year-old students includes tests in physics, chemistry and biology.-VNA
