The number of s tudents from Vietnam in Japan increased by 91.6 percent to 26,439 in May 2014, the second largest among foreign students, according to the latest survey by Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO).

The survey showed that international students in Japan as of May 1, 2014 numbered 184,155, up 9.5 percent compared with the figure of the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the numbers of Chinese and Republic of Korea’s students in Japan decreased slightly to 94,399 and 15,777, respectively.

According to JASSO, one of the reasons driving more Vietnamese students to study in Japan is the increasing presence of Japanese enterprises in the Southeast Asian country.-VNA
