Vietnam Airlines and Indian’s Jet Airways have announced a pact on cooperation towards the opening of a direct air route between Vietnam and India, and supplements to the overall cooperation agreement between two companies.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Hanoi on September 15 by General Director of Vietnam Airlines Pham Ngoc Minh and Naresh Goyal, Chairman of Jet Airways, within the framework of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee’s State visit to Vietnam.

Under the MoU, National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Jet Airways will continue to expand their codeshare flights, offering more flight options to passengers travelling between the two countries via international gateways such as Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Particularly, Vietnam Airlines will place its marketing code on Jet Airways’ flights between Singapore and Mumbai/Delhi/Chennai, Bangkok/Hong Kong and Mumbai/Delhi, and Delhi-Ho Chi Minh City via Bangkok routes.

Jet Airways, meanwhile, will offer code share services between Singapore/Bangkok/Hong Kong and Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore-Phu Quoc routes.

Both companies also agreed to work closely to promote their aviation markets in a preparation for the launch of the new direct air route between Vietnam and India.

Jet Airways operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with flights to 75 destinations spanning the length and breadth of India and beyond.-VNA
