Vientiane (VNA) – Laos appreciates Vietnam’s support in the effective training of local personnel, said Lao Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Khampheng Saysompheng.

He expressed thanks to Vietnamese Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung at a recent meeting in Vientiane on the sideline of the 24th ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting.

Minister Khampheng Saysompheng went on to say that Vietnam has assisted Laos in preparing for and securing good results at the ASEAN skills competition.

He unveiled that his ministry has opened Vietnamese classes and organised training trips to Vietnam for its staff.

The Vietnamese Minister lauded the Lao Government’s organisation of several major events recently and hoped the success continues during this year with Laos’ role as ASEAN chair.

He said Vietnam will do its utmost to support Lao chairmanship.

Both sides were pleased with their past engagements and expressed resolve to reinforce the cooperation.

In 2015, the two ministries inaugurated a Vietnamese-funded orthopedics and rehabilitation centre in Vientiane.

They operated dozens of tours in both countries for Vietnamese and Lao retired officials and people with contribution to the country.

Experience sharing and training courses were also held regularly, benefiting both sides.-VNA
