A nine-day festival spotlighting Vietnamese culinary delights recently took place in the largest South African city of Johannesburg.

All dishes were cooked with imported ingredients from their hometown by Ma Chi Tan and Duong Bao Son, two famous Vietnamese chefs working for the Hyatt hotel chain – the organiser of the event.

Hyatt representative Andre Troy Botha said the company had planned to promote Vietnamese cuisine for a long time.

With the help of the Vietnam Embassy in the host country and local media, the festival received a warm welcome, he shared.

Vietnam Ambassador to South Africa Le Huy Hoang lauded the well-prepared event, saying it is the longest promotion of Vietnamese food and will contribute to expanding trade ties between the two nations.
