Vietnam’s history and culture attract Koreans

A festival on Vietnamese history and culture held in Seoul, the
Republic of Korea on September 22, helps strengthen ties in
Vietnamese-Korean families, which are on rise in the RoK in recent time.
The event, part of the RoK Government’s “Multi-cultural Families at localities” programme, was organised by the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Association (KOVIFA) with the assistance from the RoK Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
It was also one of activities to celebrate the 2012 RoK-Vietnam Friendship Year and the 20th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
At the opening ceremony, KOVIFA honorary President Park Noh-soo said Vietnam and the RoK enjoy a good relationship in all fields and the festival is a good chance for Vietnamese-Korean families and local people to better their ties.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Manh Dong highly valued KOVIFA’s activities in recent years, especially in successfully holding four festivals to introduce Vietnam ’s culture, history and people at four inner districts of Seoul in September this year.
He added that the event helps RoK people to partly know how Vietnamese-Korean families as well as the Vietnamese community live in the RoK.
Chairman of Seoul’s Seongdong district Goh Jae-deuk said the Korean community in Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in the RoK are contributing to bridging the two nations closely.-VNA
