Vietnam will do its utmost to promote cooperation with the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) in crime prevention and enhancing capacity in combating crime.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at the Oct. 29 reception for Interpol President Khoo Boon Hui, who is on a visit to Vietnam to attend the 80 th Interpol General Assembly to be held in Hanoi from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4.

Speaking highly of Interpol’s role, PM Dung hailed the forthcoming Interpol General Assembly meeting’s practical theme along with discussions on possibilities for crime prevention cooperation, especially hi-tech crime and pirates and improving capacity of crime prevention.

President Khoo Boon Hui spoke highly of close and effective cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Interpol over the past time, adding that the cooperation among national police forces through Interpol is of significance to global crime prevention.

He also expressed his wish to continue cooperating with Vietnam in ensuring global security.

The 80 th Interpol General Assembly meeting themed “Connecting police for a safer world - Strong partnerships, innovation and building capacity” expects the participation of 1,200 police from 188 countries and territories./.
